Lagos State Government Targets 10 Million Trees By 2020

The Lagos State Government says it intends to plant 10 million trees by 2020 as part of move to mitigate the impact of climate change. So far, the state government has planted about six million trees since the launch of the tree planting campaign in 2008. Speaking at the 2016 Tree Planting Day, which took place at the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Camp, Orile-Agege area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Thursday, State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode disclosed that his administration was working frantically to meet the target of planting 10 million trees by 2020. He said the annual event was one of the most reliable and cheapest means of combating the effect of global warming and climate change, adding that planting of trees was very important for the environment as trees provided oxygen, cool the atmosphere, help conserve energy, save water, prevent erosion, among others. It was a sad weekend in Ndubia Inyimaegu community in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, following reports of the death of one Jacinta, who was allegedly beaten to death by her husband, James Uguru, over adultery. In a Thank You message posted on his Instagram page, few hours ago, the comedian said he spoke with her on the phone one hour before she gave up the ghost. Fellow Christians, Our world is filled with numerous churches and pastors who for selfish reasons, had deviated from the way that Christ commanded us follow. But should we all stop going to church or stop listening to today's pastors? I think the solution is this: We must believe that God doesn't live in any of these churches but lives in us when we purify our hearts. We must also believe that in this new covenant era, God doesn't have a temple in any church as it was in the old covenant era. Our body is the temple of God; so we must keep it holy. This shows that God is not found in all these end time churches but for the sake of helping one another spiritually and otherwise, we still have reasons to go to Church. I have been observing people in my church for a long time and I have made a list of the various kinds of people you find in a typical Nigerian church. 1. The first set of people are called the Bible Scholars. They are always very serious, writing everything the pastor says, and nodding their head every now and then. There was a mild drama recently at the Agboyi/Ketu customary court when a woman Ethel Amagala 53, who had earlier approached the court for the dissolution of her marriage with one Emmanuel Amagala, 60, stormed the court in anger over newspaper publication of her divorce case. Mrs Amagala whose children had earlier pleaded the court to discontinue the case, said her husband also became angry when he read their divorce story in the newspaper. She said: “The children want the case discontinued as it is causing embarrassment to the family.
